Sustainability isn’t a checkbox — it’s a measurable business practice. When you partner with Automated Business Technologies, your print environment becomes part of a closed-loop system: equipment is recycled through manufacturer take-back programs, toner cartridges never reach the landfill, and your paper consumption is automatically offset through certified global reforestation.
ABT serves businesses across the Colorado Front Range from three locations — Centennial/Denver, Colorado Springs, and Westminster — and we coordinate recycling logistics on your behalf so your team doesn’t have to manage it.

Join the Trillion Trees Movement — PrintReleaf
PrintReleaf is a certified reforestation platform that automatically measures your organization’s paper consumption and converts it into real, verified tree plantings in global forests of your choosing. It transforms something your business does every day — printing — into a documented environmental contribution.
How it works for ABT customers:
- Measure: PrintReleaf tracks your paper consumption automatically via the FM Audit connection already in place for Managed Print customers.
- Calculate: Consumption data is converted into trees using the PrintReleaf Standard methodology.
- Releaf: Trees are planted in certified global reforestation projects — you choose your region from a project dashboard.
- Certify: Your Lifetime Certificate updates automatically with every transaction, giving you a documented record of impact to share with stakeholders.
Many current ABT Managed Print customers are already eligible — the FM Audit connection is the only requirement. If you’re not yet an ABT customer, a risk-free print environment assessment is the first step.
Canon Recycling Program
Canon’s product recycling initiative reflects their global commitment to building a better environment for future generations. The program currently covers all Canon consumer products along with imageCLASS and imageFORMULA small office/home office product lines — making it easy for Colorado businesses to responsibly retire equipment at end of life.
As an authorized Canon dealer, ABT coordinates program access on behalf of our customers across the Denver metro, Colorado Springs, and Westminster service areas.
Epson Product Stewardship & Recycling Program
Epson’s Product Stewardship Program allows businesses and individuals to send back used Epson products for recycling, free of charge. As an authorized Epson partner, ABT can help Colorado customers navigate the return process for printers and peripherals no longer in service.
HP Planet Partners — Toner & Ink Cartridge Recycling
HP’s Planet Partners program is one of the largest cartridge recycling initiatives in the industry. Through this program, used HP ink and toner cartridges are collected, sorted, and reprocessed — keeping millions of pounds of plastic and metal out of landfills annually. HP also incorporates recycled content into new Original HP cartridges, creating a true circular model.
ABT customers using HP devices can participate through HP’s supply recycling program. Our team can provide guidance on return logistics and qualifying products.
Kyocera ECO footPRINT Toner Recycling Program
Kyocera’s ECO footPRINT program is one of the simplest recycling programs available for business customers. ABT coordinates the full logistics — no hunting for drop-off locations, no separate shipping accounts needed.
Here’s how it works:
- Contact your ABT account executive or our team to request an ECO footPRINT recycling box.
- We deliver or ship the box to your location — it holds up to 30 empty Kyocera toner containers.
- Fill the box with empty containers, then hand it to your UPS driver or drop it at any UPS location. The prepaid return label is already attached.
- The containers are transported to a certified recycling facility at no additional cost to you.

Xerox Green World Alliance
Xerox’s Green World Alliance® is an industry-leading supply take-back program that diverts millions of pounds of used toner and print supplies from landfills annually. The program accepts Xerox-branded supplies for eligible Xerox printers, as well as Xerox EverydayTM Toner cartridges for non-Xerox printers.
ABT customers with Xerox devices can take advantage of this program directly. For supplies not covered by the manufacturer program, we recommend checking local recycling options — our team is happy to assist with guidance.
Supporting Programs That Reduce Waste at the Source
The most sustainable print environment is one that wastes nothing in the first place. ABT offers two programs that reduce consumption, tighten supply chains, and cut unnecessary print costs — before recycling ever becomes necessary.
Managed Print Services (MPS)
MPS provides control and accountability across your entire device fleet. Remote management handles supply fulfillment, usage tracking, and routine maintenance — reducing waste, cutting costs, and helping your organization meet sustainability goals without adding administrative burden.
Learn about Managed Print →Toner Plus Program
The Toner Plus program provides your devices with unlimited toner, combined with routine preventive maintenance. Devices perform better, last longer, and your team spends zero time sourcing or ordering supplies — and zero supplies go to waste through over-ordering.

How do I recycle old printer toner cartridges in Colorado?
ABT offers free toner recycling through manufacturer take-back programs from Canon, Epson, HP, Kyocera, and Xerox. Depending on your device brand, ABT can provide prepaid return boxes or guide you to manufacturer drop-off and mail-in options. Contact your ABT account executive or request an assessment to get started.
What is PrintReleaf and how does it offset paper usage?
PrintReleaf is a certified reforestation platform that automatically tracks your organization’s paper consumption and plants trees in global forest projects to offset it. The system integrates with FM Audit — the print monitoring tool ABT installs for Managed Print customers — so reforestation happens automatically without any manual reporting on your part.
Does ABT charge for printer or copier recycling services?
No. All manufacturer recycling programs facilitated through ABT — including Canon, Epson, HP, Kyocera, and Xerox — are offered at no additional cost to ABT customers. The Kyocera ECO footPRINT program, for example, includes a prepaid UPS return label so there are no shipping costs either.
Which copier and printer brands does ABT recycle?
ABT facilitates recycling programs for Canon, Epson, HP, Kyocera, and Xerox devices and supplies. For other brands, our team can advise on available local or manufacturer-direct recycling options. ABT serves the Colorado Front Range including Denver, Colorado Springs, and Westminster.
What is Managed Print Services (MPS) and how does it reduce environmental impact?
Managed Print Services (MPS) is an agreement through which ABT monitors and manages your entire printer and copier fleet remotely. MPS reduces environmental impact by right-sizing your device fleet (eliminating underused equipment), automating supply fulfillment to prevent waste from over-ordering, and extending device life through proactive maintenance. MPS customers are also eligible for PrintReleaf reforestation integration.
How does the Kyocera ECO footPRINT toner recycling box work?
ABT delivers or ships a Kyocera ECO footPRINT recycling box to your Colorado location. The box holds up to 30 empty Kyocera toner containers. When full, hand it to your UPS driver or drop it at any UPS location — a prepaid return label is pre-attached. ABT coordinates this program for customers across Denver, Colorado Springs, and Westminster at no additional charge.
What is Print Audit (FM Audit) and why does ABT use it?
FM Audit (formerly Print Audit) is a software application installed on your network that automatically reports meter readings from connected printers and copiers to ABT on a monthly basis. This data powers automated supply fulfillment, accurate billing, and — when PrintReleaf is enabled — automated reforestation offset calculations. ABT installs FM Audit on all serviced devices as part of our Managed Print program. If the application is not reporting correctly, it can be reinstalled by our team.
